Kristoffer`s   Psychedelic, Pop and Op art

Pop Images and geometrical structures, mixed with psychedelic color samples, created by Rudolf Kristoffer

Instead of getting a typical IKEA poster for my room to decorate, I started to create my own poster, which happend to become a black and white striped version of the iconic LOVE sign by Robert Indiana.

First I made paintings for friends or relatives, mostly just stripes and circles, only using a scotch tape, a stanley knife and felt-tip pens. This were my first steps using the technique of stenciling. A method of aplying a design onto a surface, by painting or spraying paint through a cutout overlay, placed on a surface.

As I started to combine images of Pop Art, i came up with the implementation of a cutter machine, simplifying and improving my stenciling process.

Finally, putting paint over these various overlays, by the use of a scraper, the effect of psychedelic color patterns evolved, futhermore Kristoffer`s Psychedelic Pop and Op Art was created.

As these art styles emerged or had their heights within the 60s, I have a strong relation to the music and lifestyle of that era. Also because my father, living in London at that time, told me many stories about it.

Music and lyrics are a great part of my idea generating process. I often take songlines to combine it with an image, generating a new, combined message. This process often occurs in reversed form.

With regard to my artistic statement, it quickly became clear to me to focus on simple messages, whereas every single viewer can rely on it, anytime and anywhere.

Thoughts around the topics of the own consciousnes, feelings and emotions.

Short and simple but good and true
